Energy Saver: Programmable Thermostat Upgrade

(continued ...) However, there is a limit to the number of blankets you can throw on top and not be smothered by the weight. Another choice for bed covers that I prefer is feather bed covers. These are also known as duvets, eiderdowns, federbetten and numerous other names. They are effectively a large (sometimes quilted) bag stuffed with hand sorted and washed goose down. The down is plucked from the soft underbelly of domestic geese. The fabric bag that contains the goose down is very tightly woven and does not allow the feathers to escape. Using winter fill federbetten, it's possible to lower your sleeping thermostat set point to 48 F (9 C) or lower with special provisions *6. This is the third step in energy reduction.
